Pythagorean Relationship Blog

3. Determine the length of each Hypotenuse.

6. Determine the length of each leg for each right triangle

8. The side view of a ramp at a grocery store is in the shape of a right triangle. Determine the length of the ramp, to the nearest centimeter.

1. Well, the Pythagorean relationship works for any right triangle. A right triangle is a triangle that has one ninety degree angle.

The angle is called the hypotenuse. It's always the longest side of the triangle. Its called C

Then, we'll let the other two sides of the triangle equal 'A' and 'B'. They are the legs of the triangle.

Basically, the Pythagorean Relationship states that for any right triangle, the square of the

hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the two legs.

Questions 1,2,3

Unscramble the letters for each puzzle. Use the
clues to help you solve the puzzles.

1. R C E E T N P

Percent means out of 100.

2. C R A T F I O L N A

A Fractional percent is a percent that
includes a portion of 1%.

3. M C N O B D E I

Percents that are added together
are Combined percents.

Question 3
a) 300/100

b) 1.25/100=0.0125

3x 2000 = 6000 0.0125x 60= 0.75

c) 1/100=0.001

0.001x 40= 0.4

Devon's Pay it Forward

Part 2

My Pay It Forward act of kindness was to pick up garbage
for 2-5 hours once a Friday once a month.

I choose this activity because I thought it would be fun

I could bring my friends and this way it is helping more than
just 1 person its helping 10 to 100 people depending
on how long we do it for.

I am helping a goo percent of people in my community.
even if they don't know it.

Part 3

My act of kindness went very well. I had fun doing it,
and might do it again this week.

I felt like I was really helping my community,
I also felt good about what I was doing

I saw one person. They were telling me how they think
I was doing a good thing for a lot of people

I only asked the one person that saw me picking up garbage.
She said if a day comes where someone needs help she would try her best.

She was surprised about the question but she took it pretty well.

Part 4

The idea of Pay it Forward is important because it's getting people around the world to stop for a second and think about someone other than them selves for a change and help someone with there problems. Instead of worrying about them selves all the time.

I think my act of kindness has made a big difference
on me and everyone in my community.

Devon's Graphing Post

1) Bar graphs are the best for comparing data across categories. The disadvantage of bar graphs are
  • Graph categories can be reordered to emphasize certain effects
  • Use only with discrete data

2) Line graphs are best used to show data over a long period of time.
The disadvantage of using a line graph are
  • Use only with continuous data

3) Pictographs are best to show data that can easily be counted and represented.
The disadvantage of a pictograph is
  • Hard to quantify partial icons
  • Icons must be of consistent size
  • Best for only 2-6 categories

4) Circle graphs are best to show percents, part to hole, and categories.
The disadvantage of a circle graph are
  • No exact numerical data
  • Hard to compare 2 data sets
  • "Other" category can be a problem
  • Total unknown unless specified

  • Best for 3 to 7 categories
  • Use only with discrete data

2) Graphs can be misleading are

  • Distorting the scale
  • Distorting the visuals
  • Distorting the size of bars

2a) line graph and a bar graph

2b) Yes I would continue selling Pizza Subs Because the graph is showing that in each week, the items that are sold are getting higher.

4. I would choose the line graph to get Mrs. Mota to continue selling healthy choices in the canteen.

Task 1
Ratio: A comparison of two quantities that have the same unit of measure.

Rate: A Rate is when two quantities is measured in different units.

Ex: 7 cars/hour

Proportion: A Pro portion is a relati
on ship that says that two ratios or rates are equal.

Ex: 3/4 = 2/4

Task 2

1. 5 Hours to travel 360 miles is about 72 mph

2. As a playgroup worker, if increase the amount of apple juice i am serving at the play group from 25 ml to 100 ml, how much should i increase the orange juice to, keep the quantities in the same proportion? The orange juice is 50 ml to start.

Task 3

3/4 = 12/16

Task 4

Task 5

1. I do not think this is very fair at all.

2. I do not think its fair at all because someone that stole 100 dollars and returns it the next day gets 15 years in jail and then someone that steals 3 million dollars gets a 40 month sentence

3. If I was the judge I would of given Alexandra 15 years in jail not Roy brown
I would of gave Roy brown a month in jail
