pathagorous post

1, explain the pathagorous method
A+B=C
that method is the way you find out if the triangle is a right triangle. you take the a + b-c and fill the numbers in.
if the to legs add up to the hyptenuse then you have a right triangle.
2. answer this missing side.
one leg equals = 12 which is A side
the other = 5
so we go c=a+b
c=12+5
c= (12x12) + (5x5)
c= 144+25
c=169( sqaure root it )
c=13

3.is the triangle a right triangle? prove it !!!
well one side equals 8 the other equals 6 so
a+b=c
8+6=14
14=11
there for the triangle is not a right triangle.

mikyL's pathagorous scribe post

in this unti we have learned about the pythagours system. in this unit we have read worked and listened to mr.harbeck talk about what im gonna talk about.

first of all:

we learned about the system its self.

hypotenuse- the right triangles largest slide in between the legs. the hypotenuse can be calculated many different ways as i will explain in ferther explanations.
yellow: 7cm
blue 4cm
purple:?

pathegrous- if you look to the left this is a pathagorous question.
to calculate it you need to know how much the sqaures are each worth. so we know that yellow is worth 7cm and blue is worth 4cm. so nopw we know that A(sq.) + B(sq.) = C(sq.)
so to calculate that you do A+B+C
4+7=11cm (sq.)
now not always you will have a triangle that is a right triangle. if it is not a right triangle you must state that it isnt and say why. for example if the triangle does not have a little square in the middle of the legs, then it may not add up equal and it will NOT be a right triangle. :)
i hope you like my pathagourus post. I DONT HAVE ALOT OF INFORMATION BUT IF YOU HAVE ANY COMMENTS THEN POST THEM BELLOW AND I WILL TRY AND ANSWER THEM TO MY BEST ABILITIES :) THANKS!

percents

1) percent 1 awhat is the percent of this square?
the answer is 1% out of 100

2)percent 1 bwhat is the percent of this question?
the answer is 100% out of 100
3)
what is the percentage of 20% of 70
20 % of 70 is 14 because
10% of 70 is 7
10% of 70 is 7
___________
20%= 14
how to get 20 %
what you do is you take 1 closer dividing by andyou use it for example 10 then you take the 10 and add it once more because then it will equal 20 then u take your 2 answers and you add them together to get 20% of 100
thats all i could do for now thank you....byee:D

mikyala dowhys pay it forward

Part 2
What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness? my pay it forward act of kindness was to send away a little christmas box to a little girl in a forn country that dosnt get christmas gifts.
Why did you choose this activity? i chose this activity because i think if we can have christmas gifts then why cant they...

Who did you help? i helped a little girl in costaa rico areas from 5-9 get her dream.. to come true.
What did you do? i made a letter to this little girl, kinda like a pen pal i put my picture and a hole bunch of little gifts like

2 t-shirts

a couple drawing utensiles- so she can know what i use every day

1 book about tinkerbell- so she can learn to read
1 cloth- to wash her face
1 bottle of nail polish- so she can feel beautiful just like me
1 bag of candy canes- so she has the chance to experiance candy

1 bag of cookies - so she can have a full tummy

1 eeyore stuffy key chain- so she can have a toy

i put all this stuff in here for a reason...as you can tell
When did you do you act of kindness? i did my act of kindness on that friday after the movie.
You need to document your act of kindness. Please make sure you have a photo or video of you "Paying It forward".

Part 3
How did the person or people react? the person i am giving it to is going to be all HAPPY and like love me forever.
Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"? when i bring it into the donar i will ask her: or him
How did they react to your request? i talked to the donar and she said that my gift is gonna be greaty!
If you did not ask the person to "Pay It Forward" how come?
Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important? because if you dont try and help at least 1 person you wont be able to help no one you have to try to achieve anything!!!:D
Has your act of kindness made a difference?Read more: http://sargentparkmathzone.blogspot.com/#ixzz1dpuTCoyQ Under Creative Commons License: Attribution Share Alike

i have lots more pictures that i would love to share...but it wont let me put them up...:D
i cant figure out how to put them on here but...i dont know how.....sorry i had to take all this time to say ot but yea

percents

PERCENTS!
im soooo sorry that i had to take this long to get a little math notes down here...
anyways here goes everything i got
persents: a whole, out of 100
deffenition: perecenet means thenumber or outcome out of 100 showen in many different ways.
convert to decimal
convert to fraction
convert to ratio
some random thinking from the class:
-out of 100
-convert to a decimal
-convert to a fraction
-convert to a ratio
-percent sound alot like cent- the french word for 100- so out of 100
-the sign looks like this % the line means cut and the 2 circles means half or out of 100

percent - an equivelent fractio out of 100
36/40
90/100
0.5/100- a bad fraction - ratio not a fraction.

we had math home work on grids that we had to colour:
50% 2 ways
60% 2
5% 2 ways
10% 2 ways
1% 2 ways
120% 2 ways
131%
and
200%
im sorry i cant put anypictures but i CAN explain.......
50% is half of any grid. or 50/100
60% is 6 by 10 on the grid or 60/100
5% is only 5 sqaures cololured or 5/100
10% i 1 row coloured or 10/100
1% is any 1 square coloured in or 1/100
120% is 1 hole grid covered and then 2 rown on another grid or. 120/120

thats all for now/..... byeee:D

Mikyala's graphing post

in this post you will find the questions that were asked on the post we were asked.
here goes everything i got!!!!!
1. Use your notes to list the different types of graphs. Please list the advantages and disadvantages of each graph.
advantage for the circle graph
the advantage for the circle graph is it shows the % of the whole to half set of numbers.
disadvantage for the circle graph
the disadvantage for the circle graph is the piece that the set of data is on for example. when you put in your graph 23% then go and have to do 25% the shapes look to the same to recognize the number it actually is.
advantage for the bar graph
the lines in the bar graph are visually better and they look neat and more organized.
disadvantages for the bar graph
graphs can be misconception on it and emphasize the ! bar more than the other.

math notes

ok so i havent done a blog post ever so i am here to do one now! so>>>> i am going to do one all on all of my notes !
mean: add up all the numbers of the set and divide by the number of items.
median: arrange the numbers in accending order, find the middle number.
mode: the most common number in set of data.
range: the differance between the largest and the smallest peices of data.

perportion: 2 equivelent fractions. __1____ = ___3____

2 6

equal:: means the same or balanced.

word ratio: were you write what happened in your perportion statement.

* ALL PERPORTION STATEMENTS ARE EQUIVELENT FRACTIONS*

GRAPHS

when making your graphs try to make evryhing the same.

*****HINT*****

on the exam dont cram all your graph data at the bottome of the page tryand put it in the middle so you are getting a higher mark and it looks neater!

there is many ways you can make one bar on the graph looked messed up.

there is :

to color only one of the bars.

to bigmac it ( make one of the bars bigger then the rest)

3d one ( make one of the bars 3D and the rest normal)

and lastley....

mess withe y axis( make a zig zag in the y axsis)

there is also different kind of graphs:

circle graphs: used to show percentage

double bar : used to show the diffrance between two or more datas

line graphs: used to show how much the data increases or decreases

single bar graphs: used to show regular data

SOME MORE INFORMATION......:)
data can be presented using bar graphs, double bar graphs, circle graph, line graphs and pictro graphs. different graphs may provide different information and display certain types of data better. bar graphs are better for comparing data across categories. double bar graphs are best for comparing 2 sets of data across cateogories. circle bar graphs are best for comparing categories to the whole using percents. the sum of the percents in a circle graph is 100% . the line graph is best for indicating changes in the data over time. the pictrograph is best for comparing data that can be easily counted and represented using symbols.
*******HINT*******
thepictrographs will most likley be on the exam
thats all my notes for now!!! i hope you get yur notes up to date and have fun studying!!! k byee:D
