Kate's Pay it Forward

Part 1

Pay it forward means doing good things to other people and making a difference for their life.

Part 2

My Pay It Forward is an act of kindness to help Charry’s auntie's friend who's disabled. we did this with my partner Charry Mangaya. We decided what are we going to do. We chose this activity because we like to help (old) people with disabilities. We helped Precilla Malla, we call her tita (auntie) Malla, she's 59 years old, and she’s disabled with psoriasis arthritis and diabetes since 2003. We asked her what we can do for her. We did this act of kindness last November 13, 2011 at 11:30 A.M to 3:30 P.M.

Part 3

Our act of kindness went well. First Charry introduced me to her; we asked her "what can we do for her?”

We saw her kitchen, there's a lots of dirty dishes. So, we washed it, we cooked rice for her, we swept the floor, we cleaned her table. We saw her bedroom and she asked us is it okay to help her fold some of her clothes and we said “yes we can". We noticed that her bedroom is crowded with her things and a little bit messy; I told her that we can do some "interior designing to her bed room ". We moved some stuff, while we're cleaning up; we were talking and sharing stories like her experience when she's young. We're done at that time. We asked permission, if we can take a video and a photo to her. She approved. She was so happy when she saw her bedroom was all cleaned up. She told us that she's going to pay but we told her that it’s okay because we did this for free and she doesn't have to pay us .She's so thankful to us . She wants us to visit and to come back if we have a free time. Charry and I had so much fun . were so happy because we make her so happy and Charry and I helped each other to take pictures and videos and to help Tita Malla.

Part 4

Pay it forward is important because you share good things to others with the intension to make a difference not only to their life’s but to yourself as well .

Jomel's Pay it Forward

Part 2:
Donating winter clothes to salvation army. I choose this activity because I thought donating winter clothing to a charity would probably help a kid in need of a jacket, scarf, etc. I do not know who I help but I'm guessing I helped someone in need of warm clothing during the winter. What I did was, I got old pieces of clothing that were not useful anymore and put them in a bag so I could bring them to Salvation Army. Today November 16, 2011 around 4:00pm

Part 3:
My act of kindness went pretty well since it was an easy task. I asked the cashier if I was able to donate clothing and she said "yes, all you have to do is put it in the bin" so i got the clothes from my dad's car and brought it to the bin. I felt happy for what I have done because i know that someone else would be enjoying the winter clothing and be warm in it too! Well... the cashier thought it was a very nice thing and said thanks. I told the cashier this is for my pay it forward project. The cashier was thankful for the donation of clothing.

Part 4:
I think it is important because helping people in the world can make a difference to you and others. I'm not sure that my act of kindness has made a difference but it soon could make a difference for someone in need of winter clothing.

Part 2

My Pay it Forward act of kindness was to voleentare at the Day Caree Center and make Thank You Cards with Cindy and a little help from Amanda B. We choose this activity because we thought it would be helping the staff and kids at the Day Caree Center we also choose Thank You Cards because it would show that we care and we want to say thank you to the people who have been helping us. For voleentare at the Day Caree Center we read books and help make puzzles and just playing around with the kids. For the thank you cards we made them by our selfs. We starded our act of kindness on November 8,2011 and finish on the 14 of November 2011.

This is a picture of me reading a book to some kids.

This is me playing with the kids.

This is me going to go play with some other kids.

This is Amanda and I playing with some toys.

Part 3

Our act of kindness went really good, we finish what we started and we are proud of what we have done. After having to leave the Day Caree we wrote them a thank you card. I also wrote thank you cards for some of my teachers and my mom. I felt really good about what I have done because people know that we care. Some of my teachers acted surprised and the staff at the day caree acted surprise too. I did with the staff at the day care. They didn't react to surprised.

Part 4

I think the idea of pay it forward is important because it's a chances to help people around you and people you don't know. I think our act of kindness has made a difference because people know that we care.

JM's Pay it Forward

Part 2
My act of kindness was to donate my stuff to Canadian Diabetes.
I chose this because my mom does this every year so I just wanted to give more.
I helped people who has diabetes.
I felt good when you know you helped somebody.
I couldn't see how people reacted because they're going to get my stuff from my house.
I didn't ask them to pay it forward because I couldn't see them.
Part 4
The idea "Pay it Forward" is an important idea because you can help somebody and somebody else helps another person and creates a chain.
I hope my Pay it Forward will make a difference.
I will still do more and ask people to pay it forward.

Jackie's Pay It Forward

~Pay It Forward~

1. In Pay it Forward it was about a little boy who is trying to make a difference in people's lives so they can pass it on to one another getting bigger and bigger. He first started to help a boy getting bullied, his teacher, and his mom. He ended up facing challenges through out his way but faced them and got through it. He ended up succeeding his goal and being interviewed all around the world on how he made a difference for lives around the world. But he ended up dieing because when he tried to defend the boy getting bullied, the bully went to far then ended up stabbing him
.

2.My Pay it Forward act of kindness was a bake sale with Aicelle and a bit of help from Marnelle.
I chose this activity because we thought it was a unique way of choosing to make puto ( rice cakes), and it makes us have a big effort into them.
We helped the less fortunate in Siloam Mission by giving them 60 dollars.
We sold our puto to all of our relatives because we found out most people were selling at school so we decided to do something different.
We did our act of kindness on Nov 10, 2011 which was last Thursday.

3.Our act of kindness went pretty well because we sold a fair amount of money in one day and producing and video. But it was hard because we had a bit of a hard time finding where Siloam Mission was but we found our way.
Once we got there, the Lady I so called think was named Lean or Lian came to us for a greeting.
I felt pretty pumped because I wanted to see how the people will react.
Yes, we did tell them to pay it forward.
Their reaction was that Lian was smiling and surprised of what we did and they seemed to be happy because she now knew that kids also care about other people and what they are experiencing. She also said and I quote " I thanks these young girls for raising money for the less fortunate, and it's so exciting that we pay attention around the communtiy, supporting us Siloam Mission." (thumbs up)
-Leanne Peters

4. Pay it forward is important because it makes people feel more emotional of what other people can be going through and to think about what we have like food, shelter and clothing. It also tells people that we should be helping them because if you were them you would want to be helped in any kind of way to survive and healthy living life. Lastly I think our act of kindness did make a difference because 60 dollars feed I think what they said was 12 people and that is a lot for only 3 people in 1 day. I feel really good because we made the less fortunate feel happier and that we let them know that there are people out there who want to help any one.

This is a picture right before we put it in the oven and right before we went to start cooking! :D

This is a picture after we finished cooking it.

Here is a pictures when we started to package them.

This is a picture of Leanne and us taking a picture of our donation and with us :D.

We made a video that we worked really hard on but when it came to uploading it just wouldn't upload or go onto the blog. But the results that we made but couldn't post was wonderful I hope you could have seen it I'm sorry for what has happened.

The idea of Pay it forward is important because one small thing that you could do to help a person could make a big difference to them. Also the person that you helped could pass it on to another person. Not just here in Canada but also around the world. Even though you worked with 1 or 2 people , It would still make a difference around the world.

Kit's Pay it forward

What is Pay it forward?

Pay it forward is when you do a random act of kindness to anyone, without expecting any rewards. The people I help will or might continue to do it for other people. The people who are reminded about the generosity will continue and the cycle goes on and on.

My act of kindness is volunteering at Winnipeg Harvest and helping my friends clean my neighbor's yards. Three of them in total. I chose these activities because Harvest helped my family when we were short of food and I helped my friends because they needed me and I said yes. For Harvest, I helped people who are in need of food because if it weren't for the volunteers there would be no Winnipeg Harvest. For yard cleaning, we helped people by cleaning their yards because a clean front yard will be good for the neighborhood, prevents sewer problems, provides clear mind and save the environment. I did both of these activities on November 12, 2011.

My act of kindness went very well. I felt happy to help because I want to stop poverty in Manitoba. I think they were surprised of how many people there were to volunteer because there were a lot of us. It was really fun because I hanged out with Mary, Aicelle, and Abby during the tour. I did not ask Winnipeg Harvest to pay it forward because they are already giving food to people who are in need of it. For cleaning the yards of people, it was fun because I got to help my friends and I also got to help keep our community clean.

The idea of Pay It Forward is important because it's always a good thing to help people in need. eg.)A man from Winnipeg helped two motorist that needed a tire change. After helping, he left and a few minutes later he got a heart attack. Those two motorists who he helped saw him and performed CPR. He survived because of those two motorists.
My act of kindness did make a difference.

John's Pay It Forward

Part 2

For my pay it forward me and ethan pick up garbage on my street and we had fun picking up garbage.

Part 3

My act of kindness went pretty well because there was garbage all over the street and now we can see it clean. when i see a garbage on the street i will pick it up and throw in the garbage can.

Part 4

When ever people do this, the world is going to be clean and people can make differences by picking up every garbage on the street.

Sarissa's Pay it Forward

Part 2
What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
Shera, Madeline, Jenny and I made treat bags for the kids at the Ronald McDonald House for our act of kindness.

Why did you choose this activity?
We choose this activity because we thought the kids at the Ronald McDonald house would enjoy and appreciate the treat bags.

What did you do?
We went to Dollarama and bought 31 bags to put everything in. We got pencils, erasers, stickers, notepads, lollipops, toy dinosaurs for the boys, and a tiaras for the girls to put in each bag. The day after, our group went to the Ronald McDonald House and delivered the bags to Kerry. She was one of the people that worked there.

Who did you help?
We helped the children at the Ronald McDonald House.

When did you do your act of kindness?
We did it on November 14.

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?
I thought it went good.

What happened?
Kelly, the person that worked at the Ronald McDonald House gave us a tour around the house. She also told us some details about it.

How did you feel?
When we went inside the house I felt welcome and not nervous.

How did the person/people react?
Kerry thanks us for contributing to the Ronald McDonald House.

Did you ask the person to pay it forward?
The tags on the treat bags said 'Pay it Forward' on them. When we signed the guest book we wrote 'Pay it forward' on them along with our school and names.

How did they react to your request?
I'm not sure on how they reacted.

Part 4
Was the idea of 'Pay it Forward' important?
Yes, the idea of Pay it Forward is important because something small can make a difference.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I'm not sure that it has made a difference to the children because all of them were at the hospital at the time we went there.

Hannah's Pay It Forward

Pay It Forward
Part 1
Pay It Forward is a powerful and inspiring movie that we, grades 8's watched. Pay it forward is about a young boy named Trevor McKinney, his social studies teacher, Mr.Simonet, gives the class an assignment to come up with a plan that will change the world. Trevor comes up with the plan to "pay it forward" by doing good deeds for 3 people, and instead of asking for anything in return he asks each of them to "pay the favor forward" by doing good deeds for 3 other people and in a matter of time, it should become bigger and bigger.
"You see, I do something real good for three people. And then when they ask how they can pay it back, I say they have to Pay It Forward...to three more people. Each. So, nine people get helped. Then those people have to do twenty-seven." He turned on the calculator, punched in a few numbers. "Then it sort of spreads out, see, to eighty-one, then two hundred forty-three, then seven hundred twenty-nine, then two thousand, one hundred eighty-seven. See how big it gets?" - Trevor McKinney
To me, "Pay it forward " means it doesn't matter who you are, or where you are, you can always do something to change someones life.

Our Act Of Kindness
Part 2
Our act of kindness was to go to a seniors home and spend a day with an elder. We did this because, we knew that it would be something other people wouldn't think of doing, most people want to donate or volunteer, I mean, don't get me wrong, that's amazing and it would make a big difference but, we wanted to help an elder and get a nice big smile in return. We also wanted to ask the elders questions and see things from there point of view. We helped Carol Stuart. She has lived at the seniors home for about 9 years. We spent a day with her and got to know her. We did our act of kindness on November 13, 2011.

Part 3
Our act of kindness went great. We spent 6 hours with Carol (6am-12noon). Before going to the seniors home, we bought Carol a fruit basket. First thing we did was get to know each other and interviewed her about herself and about society, we wanted to see things from her point of view. We then baked cookies and biscuits, they were delicious! (we supplied all the baking needs) She then told us about her past. At 2:00 pm, we went out to buy her some roses and a card, to thank her for the wonderful day. She taught my partner and I, a lesson. Her lesson was "even if you're just a kid, if you believe, you can make a difference" . When we asked Carol about world poverty, she had an amazing answer. "There shouldn't be a reason for us to be in such a mess. There's just too much giving away, this war was silly. I think we're spending millions of dollars for wars, where as we got people in the streets starving" I definitely agree with Carol's statement because, if we can afford war, then we can afford to feed the hunger. At first, it felt awkward to interview someone we barely knew, but as time passed by, we felt as if we've known her forever. I think Carol's reaction was happy, we really enjoyed the day we spent with her. We told her about the "Pay it Forward" project we were doing and she believed that it would work and she would love to be part of it. She accepted our invitation to interview her and told us she was going to tell all her friends about it!

The Importance Of "Pay It Forward"
Part 4
Pay It Forward is important because not a lot of people do it, and they don't notice how easy it is. Giving compliments are not that hard, yet it can make anyone smile. Being sick doesn't just mean physically sick, but there's people in the world who are also emotionally sick, like some people are depressed, giving them greeting card wouldn't hurt would it? By doing that you can help them believe in their self. Pay It Forward doesn't have to big and beyond to make a difference, it can be small, and it can count a lot to some people. Our act of kindness definitely made a difference because we helped her have some fun and managed to put a smile on her face. We realize that others do want to help, they just might now know how to start, but just like what Carol had said " I think you have to believe. I think that's the biggest thing" .

MJ's Pay It Forward

Part 2
My friend Michael and Anton pick up some garbage on the street. I chose this activity because we want our community clean and we have fun doing it. We help our neighbors. I pick up garbage in the streets. I did my act of kindness on weekend.

Part 3
My act of kindness went very well and I had fun doing it. I'm happy because we were helping our community. Some people saw us picking up garbage and they're surprise of how clean the street is.
No, we didn't ask people because we continue picking up garbage and don't have much time to ask or we forgot.

Part 4
The idea of Pay It Forward is important because you can make a differenc
e by picking up a garbage. I think it made a difference to the neighbors and me because I can see what's the thing I can do to help our community.

Madeline's Pay it Forward

Part 1:
On October 31st 2011, all of the grade 8's watched the movie "Pay it Forward." It is the kind of movie that touches people's hearts in a way that makes people think twice about their actions. It also tells you that, old or young your age doesn't matter when making a difference. We don't need someone to tell us to "Pay it Forward," we can just act by ourselves.

Part 2:

My group Shera, Jenny, Sarissa and I went to the Ronald McDonald House for our Pay it Forward act of kindness. We choose this activity because we wanted to make a difference in the lives of children that are fighting a life threatening disease. We helped the children in the Ronald McDonald McDonald house. We went there Monday after school on November 14 2011.

Part 3:

Our act of kindness went very well! Kerry was the one who showed us around the house, so we know where the different activities happens. We felt very welcome to the place. She welcomed us warmly and was very kind. We got the privilege to sign the guest book and wrote "Pay it Forward" under our names and wrote it on the tags that we tied onto the treat bags that we gave them. Kerry was delighted that we chose them for our Pay it Forward project. They reacted by telling us that we are doing a good thing for our project. We had such a great time while being toured around and just being there at the Ronald McDonald House.

Part 4:

It's important because it makes us think of others instead of just thinking about ourselves. We aren't too sure if our act of kindness made a difference to the children we helped because they were at the hospital when we went there. We hope we did made a big differece to their lives. One difference we made was towards Kerry because she was touched of what we did, she even told us that we were doing a very nice thing.

Here's a link to Our "Pay it Forward" Project video.

- I helped my parents and my neighbors.
- I helped my little brother with his homework then played games on the laptop.

- I do my act of kindness when my parents are at work and theres no one to take care of my little brother and for the other act of kindness I do it when i see that it wasnt put in properly.

Part 3

- I think my act of kindness went well.
- My brother and I did our homework then we just play around until my parents come home.
Every time I get gome from school I check if theres any garbage on the ground.
- I feel good because I know that I'm helping others.
- My parents were glad because they wouldnt have to look for someone to take care of us.
- Yes, I asked my little brother to do kindness and the same thing when he gets older.
- He didnt react to it much because he doesnt understand it clearly yet.

Part 4
- The idea of Pay It Forward is important because you are making a difference to people by just doing random simple kindness.

- I think I made a defference for my parents and neighbors. For my parents because they work hard and if I'm not responsible enough, someone would have to come in and take care of us. For my neighbors because instead of them doing it, I do it for them.

Shera's Pay it Forward

Part 1
What is "Pay it Forward". To complete this part, please edit and revise the paragraphs that you wrote after watching the movie.
On October 31st, the grade 8's watched the movie "Pay it Forward". Pay it Forward was the kind of movie that speaks to people. It speaks about thinking about what you do toward other people. This movie taught me that you don't have to be a certain age to make a big difference in people's lives.

Part 2
What was your Pay it Forward act of kindness?
My group, Madeline, Sarissa, Jenny and I's Pay it Forward act of kindness was delivering treat bags to the boys and girls that stay at the Ronald McDonald House.

Why did you choose this activity?
We chose this activity because we thought that it was a good idea. Also, we chose it because we knew that it would make the children happy.

Who did you help?
We helped the children staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

What did you do?
First, we bought all of the supplies we needed. We then prepared 31 bags which each included a pencil, eraser, note pad, a lollipop, stickers, and a toy dinosaur/animal for the boys and a tiara for the girls. The next day, we went to the Ronald McDonald House and gave the treat bags to Kerry, a nice woman who worked there.

When did you do your act of kindness?
We did our act of kindness on Monday, November 14.

Part 3
How did your act of kindness go?
Our act of kindness went really well.

What happened?
When we entered the Ronald McDonald House, a very kind lady named Kerry welcomed us into the house warmly. She then gave us a tour of some of the rooms in the house, like the family room, kitchen, laundry room, playroom, and more.

How did you feel?
I felt very welcome into the house, because of how kind she was.

How did the person or people react?
Kerry told us that she was happy that we chose the Ronald McDonald House. She also told us that it was a very nice thing that we were doing and thanked us for coming.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay it Forward"?
We didn't exactly ask them to pay it forward. We got the opportunity to sign the guest book that they had, so we wrote all of our names (and our school name), and we wrote "Pay it Forward!" under our names. We also wrote Pay it Forward in big letters on pieces of paper that we tied to the treat bags we prepared/delivered.

How did they react to your request?
We are not sure how they reacted to our request.

Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?
The idea of Pay it Forward is important, because it can help a lot of people and it can start with just one person's help.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
We don't know for sure if our act of kindness made a difference to the children because they weren't home when we arrived, they were at the hospital. We really hope we did. We made a difference towards Kerry because she was touched because of what we did. She told us that we were doing a very nice thing.

Sarah's Pay it Forward

Part 1
Pay it forward is you do a random act of kindness to 3 people, and you don't expect anything in return. Then those 3 people will do it for 9 people, then those nine people will do it for 27 people, and it keeps on going, and you don't need
to be a superhero to pay it forward. All you need is the opportunity to pay it forward.

Part 2

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
My Pay It Forward act of kindness was to have a bake sale, and raise some money, so we can donate it to Children's Wish Foundation. I accomplished this with my partner Angela Aviso.

  • 11 year old Conor who has a serious bone disorder and is excited to stay at give kids the world in Flordia
What did you do?
What we did was we baked, and sold cookies to people at Sargent Park School. We raised $145.00. Then we went to Children's Wish Foundation and donated the money. The money is going to make someone's wish will become a reality.

When did you do you act of kindness?
Our act of kindness started when we called The Children's Wish Foundation. We told them that we were going to do a fundraiser for their foundation. Next we baked our cookies, and sold them (Nov 7-9). In the end we counted the money, and we donated the money to Children's Wish Foundation. And ow the money is going to grant either Sara's, Kaden's, or Connor's wish.

This is a video of Angela, and I paying it forward.

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?
Our act of kindness went very well! Since we made a child who was suffering from a very critical disease wish come true

What Happened?
What happened was when Angela and I donated the money The fundraising coordinator, Lisa was surprised of how much money we have raised from a bake sale.

How did you feel?
It made me feel happy and proud, because I know that we've made a difference in someone's life, because our money will grant their wish.

How did the person or people react?
The fundraising coordinator, was surprised of how much money we have raise, but we didn't see Sara, Kaden, or Conor's reaction, but ill hope they'll be happy.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"? and How did they react to your request?
We asked Lisa to Pay It Forward, and Lisa's response was was that she would be glad to join the movement of pay it forward.

Part 4

I think that our act of kindness has made a difference in Sara, Kaden or Conor's life because they were going through a hard time, because of their serious medical condition, but we helped contribute towards making one of their wishes come true.

Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?
-The idea of "Pay it Forward" is important because people not just in our community but around the world can see that they're not just the one's with problems there is alot more. So they can also see what a big impact it will have to 3 people then to 9 people and more people. It's not because it's nice to do but also because you want to show to others that even if your just ONE you can still make a big difference in the world.
Has your act of kindness make a difference?
-Yes it has made a difference, not just to our community but also to me I see now the importance of making a difference and what I can do.

Jandrenn's Pay It Forward

Part 2
on my pay it forward me and edel pick up some garbage on the street and we have fun doing it.It takes 1:00-2:00 hours.

Part 3
my act of kindness works well because I can see the street so clean that has no garbage and when I see a garbage on a street I'm going to pick it up and throw it on garbage can.

when every people do this every time, the world is going to be clean and we reduce the impact of global warming so every people can make a difference by picking only 1 garbage in the street.

Charry's Pay it Forward

Part 1
Pay it forward is doing good things to other people and making a difference for them.

Part 2
My Pay It Forward act of kindness was to help my auntie's friend who's disabled.I did this with my partner Kate Velasco, I decided what are we going to do. I chose this activity because I like to help (old) people with disabilities. We helped Precilla Malla, we call her tita (auntie) Malla, she's 59 years old, shes disabled with psoriasis arthritis and diabetes since 2003. We asked her what can we do for her. We did this act of kindness last November 13, 2011 at 11:30 A.M to 3:30 P.M.

Part 3
Our act of kindness went well . First I introduced Kate to her , we asked her "what can we do for her?".
We saw her kitchen, there's a lots of dirty dishes . So , we washed it , we cooked rice for her, we swept the floor, we cleaned her table. We saw her bedroom and she asked us is it okay to help her fold some of her clothes "yes we can". I noticed that her bedroom is crowded with her things and a little bit messy, I told her that we can do some "interior designing here". We moved some stuff, while we're cleaning up, we were talking, sharing stories like her experience when she's young. We're done at that time. We asked a permission, if we can take a video and a photo to her. She approved. She was so happy when she saw her bedroom was all cleaned up.She told us that she's going to pay but we told her that its okay because we did this for free and she doesn't have to.She's thankful to us . She want us to visit and to come back if we have a free time. Kate and I had so much fun.I'm so happy because we make her (Tita Malla) so happy and Kate and I helped each other to take pictures and videos and to help Tita Malla.

Part 4
Pay it forward is important because you share good things to others.
