Jamodin's Post - Fractions, Decimals and Percents

What we did in class today is learn how to change from fraction to decimal to percent but you can do it any which way.

The first thing we did was change a fraction into a decimal.
To do that, we just have to divide the numerator with the denominator.
Ex.

The second thing we did is change the decimal to a percent.
To do that, we have to multiply the decimal by 100 because percent is out of 100.
Ex.

That is the way you can do it but don't have to do it that way because there are other ways you can do it too.

You can change from decimal to fraction to percent and percent to fraction to decimal

Decimal to fraction to percent
Decimal to fraction. First, whatever number that is after the decimal is 1 in the denominator. Second, you count how many numbers are before the decimal. If the number is 2, then there will be 2 zeros and you put the zeros before the 1 in the denominator.
Ex.

Fraction to percent is you just have to make the denominator 100 and what you do to the denominator you do to the numerator.
Ex.

Percent to fraction to decimal
Percent to fraction is if the number is not a decimal. First, you just have to take the percent number and put it as the numerator and make the denominator 100.
Ex.

But if the percent is a decimal, you just count how many numbers are there before the decimal, you add a 0 at the bottom as a denominator to how many there are. Whatever the number is after the decimal, you put a 1. Then you put the percent number the numerator and make the denominator the number that you made by how many numbers before the decmial plus the 1 that is after the decimal.
Ex.

Fraction to decimal. It already says it at the top.

Here is a video that might help you if you still need help.

  1. Hi Jamodin. Great scribe post! You explained everything we did in class very well! The video helped, nice rap. I suggest you add colors to your font to make them stand out.I also suggest you add a link.
Here is one you could add : http://ca.ixl.com/math/grade-8/convert-between-percents-fractions-and-decimals

  2. Good job Jammy. I like how you explained everything, but there were some grammar errors, just check over your work again. I also recommend using some colour to your post. It looks kind of plain without colour. The song was quite interesting, I have to say. Good job!

  3. Great job Jamodin! You explained everything quite well! Everything was great except for some grammar errors, I suggest you look into that. Also you should add some colors to some phrases or words to help it stand out more. And the video was nice, it could help others more about fractions, decimals or percents.
And I suggest that you add the following links:

  6. Great Job Jammy! I liked how you gave all the criteria for a scribe post but just missed the colour in the text and the link! I liked your video a lot it is very catchy and I'm sure when people see this video they will be sure to remember things about fractions, decimals, and percents. I thought you explained things very well and I can see the effort you put into this, just remember to read over your work! Overall excellent job!
